Mercury boat engines

A long history of boat engines

Mercury Marine is one of the world's leading manufacturers of outboard engines. The US company, based in Wisconsin, has been producing outboard engines and sterndrives here since 1939. This makes it one of the most traditional companies in the water sports sector. Its four-stroke outboard motors with electronic direct injection have made Mercury one of the best manufacturers of outboard engines.

Verado 250 – 600 hp

With the introduction of the revolutionary Verado series, Mercury has brought high performance to the four-stroke motor sector. The V8 motors with a displacement of 4.6 liters are the ultimate motors for boats. Fast acceleration and high top speeds are combined with precise handling and reliability. This makes for a truly enjoyable experience – whether cruising near the coast or offshore. Mercury's AMS system and noise protection set new standards for quiet boat propulsion. In 2020, Mercury launched the most powerful Verado to date with 600 hp. The V12 engine with a displacement of 7.6 L is the ultimate high-end luxury drive.

All Verado engines feature digital shifting (DTS), SmartCraft® with Engine Guardian™, and electro-hydraulic power steering. Reliability and quality are not just empty manufacturer phrases. Mercury even backs this up with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.

Fourstroke 25 – 150 hp with EFI

From reliable, prompt starting to clean, quiet operation and flawless handling, Mercury F150, F115, F100, F80 EFI engines and their smaller siblings are the perfect choice for your boat in almost all conditions.

Advanced technology, durable components, intelligent features, and unmatched fuel efficiency combined with industry-leading warranty protection give you the peace of mind you expect from an engine for many years to come.

Mercury is setting a new standard with the introduction of the first EFI outboard in the 18.4/22.1 kW (25/30 hp) class. In addition, a battery-free EFI system is offered for the F25 and F30 hand-start models.

Four-stroke 2.5–20 hp

Being able to take the fun with you is a big advantage of small boats, especially inflatable boats. Mercury offers a complete range of portable, extremely lightweight four-stroke outboards with a wide selection of models.

The F8, F9.9, F15, and F20 four-stroke engines have all the features that make engine operation safe, easy, and trouble-free.

The Mercury F15 four-stroke engine in particular is sure to delight many enthusiasts – whether for inflatable boats, rigid inflatable boats, small fiberglass boats, or aluminum boats. Smooth, quiet performance, low emissions, low fuel consumption, and an attractive, modern design are the main features of this model. It is the most powerful outboard motor that can currently be operated in Germany without a boat license.

What do DOHC and SOHC mean?

OHC, short for overhead camshaft, is the international term for a type of reciprocating four-stroke engine in which the valves are operated by one or more overhead camshafts.

DOHC stands for Double Overhead Camshaft, an OHC engine with two overhead camshafts per cylinder bank. In contrast, SOHC stands for Single Overhead Camshaft. Here, the valves are controlled by only one overhead camshaft. As a result, the cylinder head of an SOHC engine is significantly more compact than that of a DOHC engine.
